Jenny Harrison Designs
My Story
My name is Jenny Harrison, I have been involved with fashion and soft furnishings for more than 40 years.
Originally I trained as a fashion designer and worked for a company designing for Marks and Spencers.
Following on from that I designed sheepskin and suede and leather wear for 4 years.
I was a partner in a knitwear company, for more than 10 years, until I had my 2 children.
With the children at home I studied a City and Guilds Soft Furnishing course which seemed to be a natural extension to my sewing and design skills, at this time I also achieved my Certificate in Education, which enabled me to teach adults in my two
subject areas.
I taught City and Guilds courses to Level 4 at Somerset College for more than 10 years.
When adult education courses were affected by funding from the government in 2008 I was made redundant,
so I then set up and continue to run 3 sewing classes a week locally.
I also teach workshops for Somerset County Council at Dillington House.
I design and make bespoke items for clients, such as curtains, blinds, window seats, loose covers, cushions, wedding dresses and special occasion outfits.
